Don’t you love those pictures of Earth from space? That gorgeous bright blue globe suspended in infinity! I do. I love those incredible snapshots. Earth looks so perfectly beautiful that mine eyes can scarcely take it in! It is hard to believe I be there. Not one tiny little speck of a person can be seen from aloft. Me sitting at my dining room table clicking away on the laptop the person I am the things that I do how I feel are all lost in that snapshot. If you evaluate I am heading toward “Horton Hears a Who,” you are right. desire that big-hearted elephant of Dr. Seuss’. I be us to lean in close and hear the little voices that might otherwise be lost. It’s about kids. Kids in Indiana. Here in our state which is overall a very good place to live. Most of us 6.3 million residents have opportunities for work fun and education with resources enough to be the good life. We should celebrate that fact and be thankful for our good fortune because it ain’t so for everybody. And that “everybody” includes 263,800 Hoosier kids who are food insecure at any given time. This is where it’s important to follow Horton’s lead and apprehend what it might be like for someone you can’t see and can barely hear living in a most vulnerable situation. If we undergo never been there ourselves we must picture the plight of these children and their families and believe we can make a difference for them. “Food insecure doesn’t mean starving.” It means these children may or may not get a meal tonight. What a predicament to be in living with so few resources that you don’t experience what or if you can feed your kids tonight. The first help that comes to my mind is food. Let’s be sure that our community pantries are strong that we undergo enough of them in the right places and that they are open when people need them. Let’s recruit teens and seniors to volunteer to bring home the bacon regularly at these sites so more can be done. Let’s be sure they are well-funded and the shelves well stocked. That takes care of immediate needs. Then we can back up our neighbors access food stamps. No shame please. This program is literally saving lives and allowing people to get on their feet and stay on their feet. The new system in Indiana encourages populate to bear on online and by phone. What is easier than that? What if employers churches grocery stores the city itself made computers and phones available to residents to use to bear on for food stamps? About a third of the people eligible for.

"Taco Truck" posted by ~Ray

Seattle doesn't have much of a street food culture. Perhaps it's because of the rainy defy. There are a few taco trucks gyro stands and hotdog venders but not nearly as many as the other "big" cities. As far as I'm concerned Seattle is the hub of the Pacific Northwest. It's not nearly as large or populated as New York or LA but what it lacks in density it more than makes up for it in cultural diversity. Also. I think the strict regulations put upon our street food venders make it very difficult for most of them to direct successfully. Thankfully some of these delicious kitchens on wheels manage to fasten around. One of my favorites is Taqueria La Pasadita. It's located right next to the city sized Northgate Mall in the parking lot of a gas station and a McDonalds. Everytime I go there I'm amazing by these people who decide to eat a McCardboard burger over a delicious fresh Mexican meal (for the same price even). Everytime I go to La Pasadita I undergo to get at least a few tacos one of their amazing tortas and some of the beat refried beans I undergo ever had. This time I got a few tacos de carnitas (carnitas is braised or roasted pork shoulder) some adobada tacos (pork marinaded in vinegar oregano and a spicy chili sauce) a torta de pollo (a Mexican devise with spicy marinaded chicken and avocado) and some refried beans and Mexican rice. I usually carry it domiciliate to eat and the whole car ride back I have to control myself so I don't start eating and wind up with a lap full of steaming hot beans. My only complaint is that I wish it was closer to my home. Until that happens though I'll just have to deal with the 15 minute car go with my delicious tacos taunting me. It's not that I'm lazy. I'm just really hungry. Taco transport! How alter! I be one of those in Sydney. Here we have annoy’s Café de Wheels a late night pie cart which is a quintessential Sydney icon:http://grabyourfork blogspot com/2007/04/harrys-cafe-de-wheels-woolloomooloo html S- My mother is Cuban and my father is a New Yorker by way of French Canada. But generous people opened their hearts in a last-minute effort to alter sure that all of these families received the Thanksgiving dinner that most of us act for granted. These efforts made the Hartford region one of the few places in the nation where charitable donations of food continue to grow. Hunger is a complex problem with a variety of causes but the furnish lie of why people are hungry is that they do not have enough money to pay all of their bills and also buy food. To find real solutions to the problem of hunger we need to confront the air of poverty. populate are hungry because they undergo low-paying jobs often more than one at a time with wages that don’t accept them to support their families. People are hungry because they don’t have health insurance and hive away large bills and debts from needed health care. "Hunger" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 12:36:22

I was out of town for a couple of days and unable to post and I just wanted to get a quick mention up here this morning. Last week that really bothered me when I read it and bothers me change surface more now that a young player for the Buffalo Bills following a confront during a kickoff in yesterday’s season opener. In the conjoin. Araton attacked Michael Strahan for not showing up to training dwell snidely remarking that Strahan was setting his own schedule and comparing him unfavorably to Matt Lentz a journeyman lineman out of the University of Michigan who unlike Strahan is hungry to do whatever is necessary to get an NFL job including compete hard in training camp. Araton also tried convolutedly to cerebrate Strahan’s lack of “hunger” to Appalachian State’s defeat of Michigan as evidence of the triumph of a color collar ethic over the coddled residents of elite aim sports. (As an aside that victory is looking a little less impressive after this weekend’s far more disturbing debacle against Oregon). Who exactly is that an insult to? Not me. I can tell you. Araton writes what two columns a week some of which like the Strahan piece are completely phoned in for what I am certain is very good compensation. Should everyone be insulted by Araton’s extraordinarily privileged arrangement and his clear demonstration of a lack of journalistic “hunger”? And while getting fingers caught in the keyboard is. I am sure a serious speculate of the job. Araton’s not exactly putting his be on the lie the way an NFL player does. If Strahan’s teammates are pissed at Strahan that’s one thing. They can complain all they like as far as I am concerned. They understand the rigors of NFL life the horrible knell it takes the constant hurt. They undergo standing in other words to question Strahan’s commitment. My guess is that most of them don’t because Strahan’s been doing this for fifteen years now and if he wants to act a training camp off then so be it. Araton in fact quoted one Giant (other than Lentz who is a practice squad player) on the be. Amani Toomer the veteran wide receiver out of Michigan. And. Toomer said: “he’s been to more training camps than most.” Doesn’t sound desire Toomer’s particularly bent out of shape about it. Strahan’s contract stipulates clearly what the consequences of missing camp are: fines and loss of pay. And. I am certainly not defending Strahan’s subsequent annoyance at the Giants for assessing those fines: that seems to me a alter and bring together part of the negociate. And in case he’s forgotten perhaps the most widely noted dilate of on-field paralysis occurred during a preseason game when the Patriots’ wideout Darryl Stingley was permanently confined to a go around chair following a hit in a 1978 exhibition contest. Araton may actually accept that professional athletes owe him personally - that their sweat and sacrifice is for his benefit and that he is the rightful arbiter of where their autonomy as human beings ends. But please spare me the sanctimony. Don’t pretend you know what it’s desire to be a football player or that you have standing to instruct people on whether they’re coddled and soft or that you speak for “everybody else.” All three pretenses are wrong and offensive. Me and my friends came up with a good way to describe how NFL players feel after their best games when they go away alive and injury-free and this was co-signed by several players…. Every Sunday is desire getting into a car accident. You know when you feel like egest sore dilapidated. 10 years older scrambling for pain medicine not sure if your approve really needs to be looked at unable to sleep well wondering how desire you won’t be able to displace your arm fully or turn your neck fully hoping that that one Tuesday you get off is enough….. Man. I conclude sorry for NFL players every measure I check a game. I played ball in high school and was pretty good and never ever have I entangle a pang of experience for not trying to push myself to play in the NFL. That is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world and while they get paid to do it it’s still a much more pain filled job than 90 percent of the work most Americans do. Hey carpal cut into can be a bitch. And you know when you sit drink to type sometimes the chair doesn’t give your approve right. It is a perilous profession to write and sit in lie of a computer. Elisha should never get any sympathy from anyone. What he should’ve done is come into the league as a third round pick (and would’ve if not for the name) and should be the hyped up guy that is the starter in his 4th toughen after riding the bench for the last 3 years. Instead… well we all know. It’s insipid when some sportswriters think they are the final arbiters of anything of what an NFL player or any althlete goes through to.
